Outstanding documentary, simple and explicative. She is truly passionate about early Rome and it really comes through in her forensic study and explanation of one of the most overlooked groups of people ever. She gives an excellent lecture on the normal roman life and times and also quashes many false histories and ludicrous myths which we studied in school. She explains more about how the majority of ordinary Romans actually lived than any other documentary or movie I've ever seen. Very few presenters can do this and most are just airheads trying to look cool.
This documentary explains things very well. Mary Beard definitely knows what she’s talking about and seems very enthusiastic when talking about ancient Rome. Usually we only learn about the war-related history and art of ancient Rome, but never about romans’ day to day lives, so it was interesting to watch something that teaches you about ancient Rome from a new perspective.
This documentary series definitely stands out for its personal approach to the subject and how it captures the essence of what she is describing.
Mary Beard accomplished to uncover the tiniest details of Roman daily life in a such an amusing way that infects us with her passion.
Never had I been this interested in the Roman civilization, this series of documentaries has taught me to see how Ancient Rome is still very much around as and has left a huge artistic legacy in the modern world
